Quick Reference & General Information

* Boiler Horsepower- 1HP = 33.34pph Steam Flow
* Steam Flow to Gas Flow Conversion- Steam Flow PPH X 1.195 = Gas Flow SCFH
* Feedwater Flow- 1 gallon feedwater = 8.46lbs of Steam Flow
* Gas Flow to Steam Flow Conversion- Gas Flow SCFH / .812 = Steam Flow PPH
* Oil Flow to Steam Flow Conversion- Oil Flow GPH X 119 = Steam Flow PPH
* Flue Gas Oxygen Content- 1% oxygen reduction in Flue gas = 1% fuel savings
* Boiler/Burner Efficiency- Highest rated Efficiency is between 45% to 80%
* Boiler Rating in kWh- 1 HP = .746 kWh
* Flue Gas Temperature- 1% fuel savings for every 40 Deg F reduction in Flue gas
  (Feedwater Economizer)
* BTU Values- Natural Gas- 1,000 BTU/cu.ft. #2 Fuel Oil 139,000 BTU/gal. #6 Fuel Oil-
               151,000 BTU/gal

Steam- 980 BTU/lb. Electricity- 3420 BTU/kWh. Coal- 12,000 BTU/lb.
Temperature Conversions- (C X 9/5) + 32 = Fahrenheit. (F - 32) X 5/9 = Celsius

Oxygen Trim Systems are incorporated to compensate for deviations in combustion
air, due to changes in ambient air temperature and barometric pressure. Oxygen Trim
is designed to enhance the existing control logic not to maintain it.

Drum Level Control Systems (2 or 3 element) should have incorporated in their control
logic a "Switch Back Block" which will utilize the single element (Drum Level) system.
Once the Boiler  steam flow has been established (+20% Steam Flow- depending on
Steam Flow Meter turn down) the system will automatically switch to the Designed
operating system (2 or 3 element control).

On Multi burner installations a "By Pass" regulator should be installed around the fuel
flow control valve and set to the minimum light off pressure's. This regulator will
maintain the fuel pressure with one-burner or Multi burners during light off and warm
up. This will eliminate the operator having to constantly adjust the fuel flow control
valve during light off and warm up.

as a substitute to determine the actual flow rates, etc.
